The Benedict Manniegel Dance Company is the epitome of the Benedict Manniegel dance institution and represents the professional part of our artistic mission: The company is a variable-time and project-bound ensemble of young talent, graduates of the Benedict Manniegel Ballet Academy as well as freelance dancers and guests from well-known ballet companies such as the Bavarian State Ballet.

Benedict Manniegel Dance Company is a modern ballet ensemble that consists of young aspiring talents, alumni of Benedict Manniegel, professionals, as well as hired guests. It is formed anew each season depending on the choreographies being performed.

The aim of the company is to allow aspiring young dancers to gain stage experience alongside seasoned professionals, to introduce Heinz Manniegel’s beautiful choreographies to new audiences, and to offer a platform for aspiring choreographers to experiment and bring their visions to the stage.

Every season, the most talented vocational students of the academy are invited to perform in the company performances alongside the regular ensemble and thus gain invaluable stage experience to prepare them for their career as professional dancers.

Camille Saint-Saëns’ well-known chamber orchestra work Carnival of the Animals, in which not only animal calls are imitated by the instruments, but also professional colleagues of the time are “quoted”, was premiered in 1886. It consists of 14 short episodes, which in today’s performance practice are usually introduced by a narrator. Ada Ramzew’s new creation for the Benedict Manniegel Dance Company in a first-time collaboration with the Patentorchester München visualizes the Carnival of the Animals as a pure dance narrative – or rather comedy – and takes the subtitle of the composition “Grande Fantaisie Zoologique” as the starting point for a “Grande Fantaisie Bureaucratique”: In the arena of an open-plan office, many an animalistic character and behavior can be found – where the alpha boss struts in the chirping of secretaries and the work pace alternates between turtle speed and high-flying leaps. As a dance miniature, Ada Ramzew’s Mond/ICHt (C. Débussy Clair de Lune) shows a body poem between “night and I” in the milky white of the moon.
Ludwig van Beethoven wrote his Symphony No. 6 in F major Pastorale (pastor = shepherd) in 1807/08 as an expression of his love of nature and country life. Characterized by man’s longing for the original, the innocent, the unadulterated, Heinz Manniegel creates a devoted “dance confession” to the joy of life.
